March 2006

Dear Parents,

It is time to wind up yet another school year and herald a new one. When you receive this letter our second batch of ICSE students would have finished their examinations and our last Higher Secondary (West Bengal) candidates would be completing theirs.

At the end of the session 2005-2006, we at MHS can state with gratitude' that it was a glorious year indeed. Our school earned a global tag, won awards for excellence in different areas and our students brought home many laurels. Above all, most of our students appear to be enjoying school. We have been making good use of the new fourth floor with its auditorium and laboratories, and out "Shed" was renovated into a splendid multi-purpose hall cum auditorium in time for the ICSE examinations. MACE (our unit for continuing education) has been running courses and programmes and is on its way to becoming a vibrant learning centre. However, we are well aware that though much has been accomplished, there is much that remains to be done.

The new school session 2006-2007 will see some important changes, a few of which are being given below. In this context, you are reminded to read the School Diary very carefully (as it serves as a manual) and refer to it regularly as we often communicate with you through it.

  • Our School Departments will be as follows :
  •

                     Primary & Junior School :
    Nursery - Class V

                     Senior School : Middle School : Classes VI-VIII, Secondary : Classes IX-X, Higher Secondary : Classes XI-XII.

  • School fees will be received at ICICI Bank (Ballygunge Branch) and Corporation Bank (Ballygunge Branch).
Details are given in the School Diary.

  • Our School gates will now be closed at 8.30 a.m. Students will not be permitted to enter thereafter.
(Unfortunately the "grace" of 5 minutes was being taken for granted.)

  • Middle and Senior School students will be expected to write all Class Assignments on specified sheets and file them subject-wise after they are returned by the teacher. Special files with compartments are available for easy filing.
(This will greatly reduce the load that students have to carry and will also prove economical.)

You will be invited to the School at the very beginning of the session so that you can be apprised of School policy and new          developments.

Before I sign off, I wish to mention that our Vice Principal, Miss N. Sicka (an alumnus) will be retiring with effect from April 2006, after long years of devoted service to our School. We know that she will continue to remain an integral member of the MHS family, as are Mrs. Wilson-de-Roze, our former teachers, our alumni and you-our "parents".

Best wishes,

Devi Kar
