August 21, 2006 was a momentous day for Modern Academy of Continuing Education or MACE. The much awaited Comprehensive Primary and Secondary Teacher Training Course was inaugurated with 36 students, faculty members and other eminent guests. Prof. Suranjan Das, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Mrs. Devi Kar, Director of MACE welcomed the students and introduced the faculty. After a solemn lighting of the Lamp, the Chief Guest Prof. Suranjan Das addressed the gathering.
In his speech Prof. Das mentioned that it was a momentous day for both MACE as well as Calcutta University. There is an acute demand for teachers to meet the growing literacy needs. This Training Course initiated as collaboration between MACE and Calcutta University is a step towards meeting the demand not only quantitatively but also qualitatively. Prof. Das lauded the effort put in by Mrs. Kar and others in starting the Teacher Training Course. He ended his speech with a quotation, “Vision without Action is a dream. Action without vision is a nightmare”. He was happy to see a combination of vision and action in the efforts of MACE.
The first class of Teacher Training began that day after tea and refreshments. |
