24th. Nov. 2006 was a memorable day for MACE when the Governor Sri Gopalkrishna Gandhi visited the institution to have an interactive session with the students and faculty.
It was an informal gathering of all the people who have been associated with MACE since its inception in May 2006 and have contributed towards its growth. Among the other luminaries present were:-
Prof. Suranjan Das, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Calcutta University
Mr. Nei O'Brien, Chairman, ICSE and
Dr. Rudrangshu Mukherjee of the Telegraph |
The MHS choir entertained the audience with some very beautiful songs while they waited for the Governor to arrive. The programme began with an invocation by the students of Modern High School. Then came the much-awaited words from the Governor. Sri Gandhi mesmerized the audience with his speech. He spoke about the importance of ‘lifelong learning' and how we often learn from the humblest of people or from even the most mundane situations.
This was followed by a lively interactive session moderated by Dr. Rudrangshu Mukherjee. As the evening ended with laughter and gaiety over a cup of tea and snacks, it indeed seemed to be a fitting way to celebrate the success of this unique concept of ‘lifelong learning' . |
