Visit to THE TIFFIN GIRLS’ SCHOOL, UK
Date: October 15 - 19, 2007

Sujata Arya - Deputy Head Girl
Programmes: Observing classes, ‘shadowing’ students, interactive session, planning future joint action projects, including partnership with Fern Hill Primary School.

VISIT BY OUR PARTNER SCHOOL - THE TIFFIN GIRLS' SCHOOL, U.K.

   
   
During the Teacher-Student exchange programme, the teachers carried students' art-work and project-work on History, Geography and English, which were displayed at Tiffin Girls' School.

The teachers also observed classes of their own subjects as well as other learning subjects at various levels. Besides this, they observed design and technology, music, drama and physical education lessons.

They visited Fernhill Primary School for the Global Partnership with the MHS Primary and Junior School.

On the last day, at assembly, Supriya Jain and Sujata Arya showed a Powerpoint presentation of MHS with the school song in the background.

ISA UPDATE

The successful link between Modern High School for Girls and The Tiffin Girls’ School, U.K., initiated in 2004, continues….

In February 2007, Ms.Karen Davies (Assistant Head Teacher of TGS) and Ms.Christine Hocking (Second in English) visited MHS and spent a week interacting with teachers and students.

So far, the two schools have worked on the following projects jointly –
 Art ------------------ Theme ‘Identity’.
 Biology --------------- Medicinal Uses of Tropical Plants.
 Geography ------------- Comparison between Kolkata and London.
 Mathematics ----------- Statistical data on how students spend their day.
 Psychology ------------ Cultural perspectives on ‘friendship’.

Future plans include visits by MHS teachers and students and joint work in more curricular areas.
